I am delighted that Mekya is giving us a glimpse into her beautiful home as part of the Homestory series.

Please introduce yourself briefly, dear Mekya.

I live in Stuttgart with my husband and three children. Besides my job in the tax industry, I run my Instagram account my_style_my_space , which is all about interior design.

How big is your home?
Our apartment is 120 m².

How would you describe your interior design style in three words and why?
Elegant, feminine, and classic. I love French and Scandinavian style.
I think that when it comes to wall design, it's okay to go for something more elaborate and unusual, but I prefer a more understated approach to furniture and accessories. With minimalist decor, however, I find it very important that the room doesn't feel soulless.

What is your favourite spot in your home?
I don't have one favourite spot. I think the whole house should be harmonious and you should feel comfortable everywhere in your home.

What are your favourite pieces of furniture?
My favourite pieces of furniture are the ones my husband and I designed and built ourselves. These include, for example, the wardrobes or the children's beds, but also the radiator covers.

What is your latest acquisition?
My latest acquisition, which has just moved into my home, is a new desk system from String furniture.

Favourite interior piece?
My absolute favourite interior piece is the Thonet 209 bentwood chair, which, as a true design classic, simply always works.

Where do you like to shop for interior pieces? Do you have any insider tips?
I love shopping for new interior pieces at Connox, Geliebtes Zuhause, Nordic Nest, and Pamono. But I almost always find something at Zara Home, H&M Home, Breuninger, or Korbmayer as well.
